Vivo X50 Pro Smartphone

The Vivo X50 Pro is the successor of the Vivo X30 Pro, and also the higher variant of the Vivo X50, Vivo X50 Pro+ and Vivo X50 Lite.

The Vivo X series just like the Huawei P series focus very much on the photography experience, and the Gimbal Camera System on the X50 Pro and X50 Pro+ allows the lens to float around instead of being mounted onto a surface which the company claim result to “super clear images.”

The attention-grabbing innovation feature a built-in gimbal inspired camera setup, improved OS and processor, boasting of powerful spec and so much more

Design and Display

The Vivo X50 Pro showcases an anesthetic curved screen display which is the first from the vivo X series smartphone along with a classic but premium design.

The chasis element is built in a matte glass finish on the rear and a curved OLED screen that refreshes at the rate of 90Hz on the front.

The screen got an in-display fingerprint scanner with HDR 10+ support.

The curve display feature a 6.5-inch Full HD+ AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2376 pixels along with small punch-hole cut-out.

The smartphone measures 158.5 x 72.8 with 8 mm thick while the Pro plus measures 7.49 mm thickness which according to Vivo, makes it the slimmest 5G phone ever.

The smooth rear panel spots a camera module housing 4 array of camera, an LED flash sits beside it and the brand name on thr bottom, indicating it’s a Vivo phone.

The smartphone is available in Liquid oxygen, which is blue and Black Mirror colour options.

Camera

This lies the selling point of this smartphone with it’s gimbal camera system. It camera setup comprises of 5 cameras.

The quad-camera-gimbal system feature a 48MP Sony IMX598 gimbal OIS, an 8MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, 13MP portrait camera with optical zoom capabilities, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera.

The main camera, which packs the Sony IMX598, has a in-built “micro-cloud” mechanism for “gimbal-like” pivoted image stabilisation system that allows the camera to capture more fluid videos.

Over at the front, it packs a 32MP selfie shooter housed in a punch-hole cutout which can capture in slow-mo, HDR, panorama, and others.

Hardware and Software

Compared to it’s Exynos-Powered-predecessors, Vivo has moved to Qualcomm chipset that supports dual-mode 5G(SA/NSA).

The smartphone is powered by the “mid-tier” Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G octa-core processor along with Adreno 620 graphics processor.

Vivo’s software overlay, FunTouch 10.5 OS sits on top of Android 10 Operating system.

Storage

The device comes in two storage configuration of an 8GB RAM with either 128GB or the maxed up model of 256GB of UFS2.1 internal storage.

Connectivity

The dual-SIM smartphone supports an NFC, a 3.5mm headphone jack, AK4377A audio chip, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS/GLONASS, and a USB Type-C port.

Battery

Vivo X50 Pro acquired same 4315mAh battery capacity like the flagship X50 pro plus but differ with 33W fast charging support.

The Vivo X50 Pro is available at the cost of $603 depending on the storage unit. In Nigeria, the price will start around 245,000 Naira, while in Ghana, it will sell for 3,900 Ghs and 68,000 Ksh in Kenya.
