Motorola Edge: Specification Price and Review
Following the release of the Motorola G8 Power earlier this year, the company has finally moved back to the high-end flagship device market, with its new flagship phones, Motorola Edge smartphones.
Sadly, the Motorola Edge isn’t a high-end phone but a top contender in the mid-range flagship category. It offers upper mid-range hardware in a chassis bearing similar design with its much premium sibling. In this article, we explore the Motorola Edge specification, price and review which will help you make your purchase decision.
Design and Display
The smartphone design and display is similar to the Edge+ with a hole-punch camera on the front, HDR10 support, in-display optical fingerprint sensor and a “water repellent design”.
The smartphone boast of a 6.7-inch Full HD+ (1080 x 2340) OLED “Endless Edge” curved display, with 90Hz refresh rate and 19.5:9 aspect ratio resembling that of the Oppo Reno 3 Pro.
The “Endless Edge” curved Display that wraps around each side at almost a 90º angle to reduces the front bezel to just a thin top & bottom section.
The smartphone measures 161.64 x 71.1 x 9.29mm dimensions with a weight of 188g and a screen density of 385PP1.
On the rear, are sets of 4-cameras, a camera flash at the top left corner and the brand name lies at the center.
It comes in Solar Black and Midnight Magenta colour shades.
The camera setup isnt a contender but can contends with some of the big players in the mid-range category.
Its rear quad-camera module consists of 64MP (wide) main shooter, followed by an 8MP (telephoto), 3x optical zoom with another16MP (ultrawide) and a time of flight 3D (depth) for capturing depth information.
This rear camera setup can capture photos on Panorama and HDR mode and also shoot 4k videos at 30fps, 1080p videos at 30 and 60fps.
The single 25MP selfie camera, can also capture photos in HDR as well as shoot 1080p videos at 30fps.
Hardware and Software
Here, the company is offering a mid-range cost-efficient Snapdragon 765 instead of the A-list Snapdragon 865 package that is capable of going head to head with the likes of the Vivo Z6 5G and the ZTE Axon 11 5G.
The smartphone is also equipped with an Octa-core Processor, 4GB or 6GB of RAM, and an Adreno 620 graphics processing unit.
The smartphone runs its Motorola My UX user interface on top of the Android 10.0 operating system.

The Motorola Edge features a Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, USB 2.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector, and GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BDS, LTEPP, SUPL, 3.5mm jack and a USB Type-C.
Hybrid dual SIM with a 5G sub-6GHz network connectivity capable of high speed download rate.
It is powered by 4,500mAh battery capacity, which is equipped with 18W TurboPower charging feature. It doesn’t support wireless or reverse charging.
Motorola Edge Price and Availability
The price of Motorola Edge will cost about $649 which is around 253,110 Nigerian Naira, 69,436 Kenyan Shillings, and 3,764 Ghana Cedi.
The smartphone was announced on April 22, 2020, and will be in May 2020.
