Motorola Edge Plus: Specification, Price and Review

The Motorola Edge Plus signal Motorola’s attempt to return to the high-end smartphone market after years without a flagship.

It comes with 90Hz display, 5G support, high-end processor, ample storage, big battery and impressive cameras are the hallmark of the Edge plus.

Design and Display

The Motorola Edge Plus design is very similar to its more affordable yet lesser equipped Motorola Edge sibling with edge to edge display curving around its edges, which gives 90 degrees wrap around the left and right side.

It is built with edgeless curved Gorilla Glass 5 at the front and rear wrapped tightly around an aluminum band.

A camera module housing tri-lens, and a camera flash mounts on the corner of the holographic water repellent glass back, while the Motorola logo lies at the lower end of the panel.

Frontward is a 6.7-inch 90-degree “Endless Edge” AMOLED display similar to the Huawei Mate 30 Pro and the Vivo NEX 3, with 1080 x 2340 Full HD+ resolution, and 90Hz refresh rate when the likes of Samsung Galaxy S20 and Note 20 offer higher refresh rate.

It also supports HDR10+, 582 nits of peak brightness, a tall 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 385 PPi density.

At 203g it shares the same heavy heft with TECNO Camon 15 Premier, and 161.1 x 71.4 x 9.6 mm dimensions, indicating it can be handled with one hand.

It is IP52-certified which indicates water repellent but it’s not usable under water.

On the bottom, it harbor the USB-C port at the center, with the microphone, SIM tray and speaker grille flanked around it. The top houses the audio jack while the volume rocker and power button are placed on the right edge.

It available in two finishes, Smoky Sangria, Thunder Grey.

The Cameras

The rear-facing camera array is equipped with a total of three lenses with the main camera offering a whopping 108 MP resolution, binned-down to 27MP similar to Xiaomi mi 10 5G.

Other cameras include 16MP ultra-wide with Macro Vision, 8MP f/2.4 Telephoto camera with OIS, capable of 3x optical zoom and a TOF flight sensor for depth information.

The main camera produce decent white balance shots in contrast to cooler and warmer shots of OnePlus 8 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max respectively.

On the video front, it can record up to 6k video quality at 30fps

A 25MP f/2.0 front facing camera is dedicated for selfie and can capture up to 2k video

Hardware and Software

Under the hood, the Edge Plus boast of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, an Octa-core clocking 2.84 GHz and Adreno 650 GPU to offer increased subjective performance and smoothness even further.

The Motorola Edge plus runs its user interface on top of the Android 10.0 operating system.


For storage content, you get 12GB DDR5 RAM and a non expandable 256GB UFS 3.0 storage further compound to it’s woes.


The Motorola Edge Plus features Single Nano SIM, GPS, a 3.5mm jack, USB-C port, Dual-band WiFi 6, Dual stereo speakers tuned by Waves, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC and 5G support.


A non-removable 5000 mAh battery with support for 18W TurboPower charging, 15W wireless charging and 5W wireless power sharing.

Motorola Edge Plus Price and Availability

The Motorola Edge Plus is sold at $999 which is about 390,000 Naira, 106,990 Kenyan Shillings, and 5,800 Ghana Cedi.

The Motorola Edge Plus was announced on April 22, 2020, and was available for purchase on May 2020.
