Infinix hot 9 play is the latest addition to the infinix hot 9 series. The hot 9 play is not only an upgrade from its predecessor, the Infinix Hot 8 but also affordable version of the hot 9 series.
The smartphone is labelled as the first device from infinix to pack a massive 6000mAh along with a massive screen and it’s pretty decent cameras.

Design and Display
The Infinix Hot 9 is quite a hefty smartphone and also retains the decent body design of the standard Hot 9.
It is built with the combination of glass front and polycarbonate back and a plastic frame.
The fingerprint magnet gives the smooth panel a glossy coating with the camera block on the top left, fingerprint scanner placed on the usual position and the brand name and logo lies beneath.
The smartphone is quite heavy and large with a weight of 209 grams measuring 171.8 x 78 x 8.9 mm in dimensions. It’s difficult to handle the smartphone with just one hand.
Upfront is a large screen display size of 6.82 inches IPS LCD display that offers a teardrop notch instead of the punch hole cutout on the Hot 9.
It offers a resolution of 720 x 1640 pixels, 263 PPI density and 82.4% screen-to-body ratio.
It also offers display protection which will protect it against scratch and cracks and also increase its durability.
The handset is available in Midnight Black, Quetzal Cyan, Violet, Ocean Wave colourways.
The cameras takes a surprisingly decent photos though sometimes the background blur fails with edge detection.
The triple camera setup on the rear comprises of 13 MP coupled with another 0.3 MP shooter and an additional QVGA low light sensor.
The camera also features a triple-LED flash, panorama, HDR for better picture quality.
The waterdrop notch bears an 8MP shooter for both selfie and video calling.
The front and back cameras can both shoot a 2K videos quality at 30 frame per second.
Hardware and Software
Surprisingly the Infinix Hot 9 Play comes in two different chipsets.
The standard is equipped with Mediatek MT6761 Helio A22 chipset coupled with Quad-core 2.0 GHz processor and PowerVR GE8300 to handle graphics.
The other variant comes with a slightly higher chipset consisting of MediaTek Helio A25 chipset paired with an octa-core 1.8 GHz processors and PowerVR GE8320 for graphics.
The quad-core version runs on Android 9.0 Pie Go Edition while the Octa-core version runs on Android 9.0 Pie ontop its own and XOS 6.1 user interface.
The quad-core version offers 32GB internal storage with 2GB RAM, while the octa-core offers has up to 3GB RAM with 32GB in-built storage and another 4GB RAM with 64GB in-built storage.
They are both expandable up to 128GB via micro SDcard.
It boast of a are dual SIMs with 4G LTE network connectivity. It also features a 3.5mm jack, Wi-Fi, FM radio, micro USB 2.0, USB On-The-Go, Bluetooth 5.0, A2DP, LE and many more.
This is the top selling point of this smartphone.
The Infinix Hot 9 Play is fuelled by a non-removable battery of 6000 mAh which promises to power the device for many days without charging. Sadly, the juicer is not equipped with fast charging technology.
