Huawei P30 Lite
Huawei P30 Lite is the budget edition of the P30 series. It also the cheaper alternative to the Huawei P30 and Huawei P30 Pro. As the cheapest of the P30 range, some features were trimmed down, to reflect it’s pricetag.
The phone packs an Eye-grabbing design, competent camera, ample storage, fast charginge and lots more.
Design and Display
The Huawei’s P30 Lite is portable with a bold styling clad in glass sandwich and a plastic frame.
It’s iridescent back panel is eye-catching with ombre colour effect with wave pattern on this phone’s curved back giving it a rich flagship-esque in-hand feel.
There’s a capsule-shaped triple-camera module on to top left, a centrally placed fingerprint scanner and the brand name on the bottom left rest on the slight, elegant curve back.
On the front is a 6.15-inch dew-drop screen, greeted with minimal bezels which fits comfortably in the palm of your hand.
The display is a TFT LCD panel, offering 1080 X 2312 Full HD+ resolution with 415 ppi density, occupying 90% screen-to-body ratio, 19.5:9 aspect ratio and TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort Certification.
At 152.9 x 72.7 x 7.4 mm dimensions and 159g of weight, the phone is ultra slim and lightweight not to mention slender and comfortable to hold.
At the base is the USB-C port while a 3.5mm headphone jack and mono speaker is sited at the top.
The device is available in three colorways: Peacock Blue, Midnight Black and Pearl White.
The camera lacks Optical image stabilization, there’s no 4K video support and poor on low light shooting.
Huawei P30 Lite is furnished with tri-lens rear camera comprising of 48MP wide-angle lens with f/1.8 aperture captures 12MP detailed and better enhanced images. This is followed by 8MP ultra-wide angle lens with 120° Field of View and a 2MP depth sensing camera with f/2.4 aperture.
The camera system is enhanced with it’s AI scene recognition technology for both front and rears.
The both cameras supports 1080p video recording with Slow-mo for videos and HDR, 3D Panorama mode for photos. It also pack a single LED flash on the rear.
The dew-drop notch houses a 24 MP front-facing snapper with f/2.0 aperture, and AI beautification that enhances images produced.
Hardware and Software
At its heart lies HiSilicon Kirin 710 chipset, combined with Octa-core processing clocking a max speed of 2.2 GHz and Mali-G51 MP4 for graphics.
It’s also pack TURBO 2.0, to boost performance for a faster, smoother and more powerful gaming experience.
It runs on Huawei customized EMUI 9 User Interface based on Android 9 Pie (upgradable to Android 10).
It comes with a base version with 4GB RAM and paired to 128GB in-built storage. Goodnews there’s room for more storage via card slot.
The Huawei P30 Lite supports dual SIM with network capped at 4G LTE. Others includes, NFC for mobile payment and one-touch pairing support, GPS for connectivity, 3.5 mm headjack, USB Type-C (2.0) for charging and data transfer, Bluetooth 4.2 for data transfer, Wi-Fi dual band, FM radio and lots more.
Huawei P30 Lite is driven by 3340mAh battery capacity with a mediocre battery life. It comes with 9V2A Quick Charge to refill your tank to 100% in about 105 mintues. There’s no wireless or reverse charging supoort.
Huawei P30 Lite Price and Availability
The Huawei P30 Lite is priced at £299 / $389 instead of the original £329 at the time of release.
In other climes it sells for Nigeria starts at around 147,000 Naira in Nigeria, 2256 Ghc in Ghana and 42342 Ksh in Kenya.
The P30 Lite is an attention-grabbing phone with decent cameras at an affordable price.
However, it falls down in core areas which includes it performance and battery life.
