Doogee S88 Pro
The Doogee S88 Pro follows doogee’s rugged phone trend offering a package built to withstand all manners of dropping, water immersion, shock, flushing and impact.
Doogee engineers dropped this smartphone 1000 times, on all six sides to affirm it’s indestructible body built and can also withstand temperature gradient from -55C to 70C. It rugged abilities makes it one of the toughest phone we’ve yet seen, by some margin.
It is built for extensive outdoor use, extreme environmental conditions and profession built around such conditions.
The device is a tank of a phone, and it’s technical hardware is far from premium. It packs a huge screen, mid-range processor, oodles of RAM and storage, and a more importantly a gargantuan battery.
Design and Display
All Doogee’s rugged phones look stout in appearance but the S88 Pro would be classified as bestially obese by most doctors. The chassis design follows it’s rugged smartphone category characterized with aesthetics that give a brutal military-grade vibe.
It full time protection technology chassis build comprises of seal ring spot glue Technology, reinforced four corners, soft high-density polyethylene material on the back, corning gorilla glass front and a metal rail running round the edges.
It’s MIL-STD-810G rating means it can handle 1.5m drop on rough surfaces, and 2m drop on smooth surfaces for a thousand times, seemingly without considerable damage.
It’s IP69K rated to withstand acidic environment capped at 4.17 PH value, high temperature, high-pressure and extremely cold temperatures of up to -55°C for 4 hours.
It’s also IP68 rated, to survive being submerged in 1.5m depth of water for about 2 hours and can last the entire day in 1m depth of water.
The rear is dubbed “Iron Man Eye Design” comprising of a camera cluster, with three sensors and camera flash around it and a two eye-shaped multi-function LED light mimicking the eyes on the iron man helmet and a doogee branding at the bottom.
The multi-function LED lights serve as notification lights for calls, charge notice, music notice and even messages.
On the front is a 6.3-inch 1080 x 2340 Full HD+ drop notch display having a density of 410 pixel per inch.
It’s 171.6mm x 85.5mm x 18.7mm dimensions is too big to fit in a normal sized pocket and a heavy 372g weight which is twice the weight of Samsung Galaxy 20 plus.
On the sides, is the fingerprint unlock scanner, volume toggle, power key and dual customized keys programmed with three actions, which are single slick, double click, and long press.
The cameras on the Doogee S88 Pro may not be the main focus here, but Doogee didn’t leave enthusiasts hanging, as they made efforts to offering enthusiasts an intuitive combo of cameras.
Its rear AI triple-rear-camera array comprises of a 21MP SONY IMX230 primary camera, joined by an 8MP ultrawide angle camera, and an 8MP portrait camera. This setup can shoot 4k quality videos capped at 30fps.
Upfront, the drop-notch houses a Samsung S5K3 16 MP front-facing camera
Hardware and Software
The performance is manned by Octa-core MediaTek Helio P70 AI master incorporated with Octa-core processor and ARM Mali-G72 MP3 graphics processing unit provides computational power.
It runs on the latest and smoothest pure stock Android 10 operating system with new gesture navigation system and survival software pack for adventure lovers.
It offers a single storage option of 6GB RAM with 128GB ROM just like the Doogee N20 Pro with card slot for additional storage.
The Doogee S88 pro features a 4G LTE, USB type-c port, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC support, wifi, and lots more.
